About us

Play English was founded on the belief that languages can and need to be learned from a very young age. We believe that language learning can happen through a natural developmentally appropriate process such as PLAY. Play is a means through which most young children of pre-school age explore the world around them, and therefore LEARN.
Play English has created a context, where play is at the centre of such learning and where children will benefit from an educational model which is international and multicultural in both its breadth and depth.
Learning another language and through another language opens both minds and new horizons and lays the foundations to a better understanding and cross-cultural communication. Becoming bilingual from a very young age for us means to acquire a second language in a natural and meaningful way while maintaining and developing the child’s mother tongue and culture. This is often refered to as Additive Bilingualism. Becoming bilingual for us also means developing language competencies in two languages not only for communicative purposes but also for academic achievement. In the process of becoming bilingual, children also learn about other cultures and develop a sense of appreciation for diversity which will enable them to live comfortably in culturally diverse environments and situations. Bilinguals are enabled therefore to draw on a series of benefits at educational, cognitive, socio-cultural and economic levels.
